I’m thrilled to share the story behind Fynschool, a journey that began with my own son’s struggle with the 7+ entrance exams. Like many parents, I faced the challenge of helping my child prepare for these exams. Despite trying various tuition methods – one-to-one, group sessions, and online classes – my son found it hard to engage with traditional study techniques, often feeling overwhelmed by past papers and homework.

I realised that to truly help him, I needed to make learning more engaging and less intimidating. By incorporating fun tricks and shortcuts, and making the study process more interactive, I saw a significant change. He began to understand the concepts better, engage more willingly, and most importantly, the fear and frustration he initially felt started to fade away.

Reflecting on my own educational journey, I remembered the difficulties I faced with studying. While I could grasp concepts quickly and excel in subjects like science and maths, I struggled with exam preparation and creative subjects. My passion for electronics and music later in life taught me the value of combining technical knowledge with creative expression. This blend of creativity and technicality became the foundation of my professional life, but it was the structured study techniques that truly propelled my career forward.

As a platform engineer today, I embrace the philosophy of iterative improvement – getting a version out, gathering feedback, and constantly refining. This mindset is at the heart of Fynschool. We believe in making small, consistent improvements to create a powerful and effective learning experience.

Fynschool was born from my desire to share these insights and techniques with other parents and children. I want to help families who feel lost and helpless, just as I once did. Our approach is designed to make studying enjoyable, to build confidence, and to teach students the art of effective learning. Through Fynschool, we aim to show that with practice, hard work, and the right techniques, every child can achieve their full potential.
