Introduction

When we start writing sentences, we often begin the same way — “I went…”, “He saw…”, “She did…” But did you know you can start your sentences in exciting new ways?

That’s where iSPACE comes in!

It’s like a toolbox of cool ways to begin a sentence, so your writing sounds more fun, creative, and interesting.

iSPACE is an acronym — a special word where each letter stands for something different:

iing words
S – Similes
P – Prepositions
A – Adverbs
C – Conjunctions
E – -ed words

Examples

 

i – ing words

(starting with a verb ending in -ing)

S – Simile

(comparing things using “like” or “as”)

P – Preposition

(starting with a place or time word)

Under the bed, a pair of sparkly shoes was hiding.

A – Adverb

(describing how something happens)

C – Conjunction
